Mental Model Expansion (Pre-computation of Perspectives)
Before asking the AI a question, spend a minute jotting down several different angles or perspectives you want it to consider. This isn't just one prompt, but a quick mental pre-computation of the problem space. For instance, if you're writing a marketing email, think 'What would a customer care about? What would a salesperson highlight? What would a product manager emphasize?' Then, explicitly tell the AI to consider these different viewpoints in its generation. This guides the AI to produce more comprehensive and nuanced outputs by essentially expanding its 'mental model' of the task before it even starts writing.
It's like giving a photographer a list of different shots to get (wide, close-up, action) before the event, rather than just saying 'take pictures.'
You'll get richer, more multi-faceted content that addresses a wider range of concerns or angles without needing multiple rounds of prompting. Try this by listing 3-5 distinct personas or angles you want the AI to consider before generating a first draft.
