Agents Leaving the IDE

AI coding agents are moving out of integrated development environments (IDEs where developers write code) and into the places where work actually gets decided: Slack channels, Teams messages, and product management tools. Instead of opening Cursor to delegate a task, you @mention the agent in your team's chat and it investigates, proposes fixes, and routes results back. This is a workflow shift, not just a tooling feature. When agents meet where decisions happen, adoption energy drops dramatically because there's no context switch.

In plain terms

Like how food delivery apps won by meeting users where they already were (messaging apps) instead of requiring them to visit a website.

Why it matters

Teams already embedded in Microsoft or Slack ecosystems can deploy AI agents without re-architecting their workflow; activation time drops from hours to minutes.
