AGI

Artificial General Intelligence, often called AGI, is a theoretical type of AI that possesses the ability to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks, much like a human does. Unlike current AI systems, which are typically designed for specific jobs like playing chess or natural language processing, an AGI would be able to adapt and solve problems in diverse environments without needing to be retrained for each new challenge.

The idea of AGI is a central goal in many AI research efforts and a frequent topic in science fiction. While today's most advanced AI models show impressive capabilities, they are still considered 'narrow AI' because they excel at specific functions. The pursuit of AGI involves significant challenges, including teaching machines common sense, creativity, and the ability to learn from unexpected situations, much like how humans interact with the world.
