Consequence Mapping

Consequence mapping is a technique where you ask the AI to predict the potential outcomes, both positive and negative, of a proposed action or decision. This forces the AI to think through implications beyond the immediate task, offering a more holistic view. For example, if considering a new marketing campaign, you'd ask, 'Given this campaign strategy, what are three potential positive consequences and three potential negative consequences for our brand image and sales, respectively?' Before: AI provides a campaign strategy. After: AI provides the strategy plus a balanced analysis of its likely effects, including risks. This moves beyond simple suggestion to strategic foresight.

In plain terms

It's like a chess player thinking several moves ahead, not just focusing on the current move, but anticipating their opponent's reactions and the state of the board in the future.

Why it matters

This helps you make more informed decisions by proactively identifying potential risks and rewards, guiding you away from unintended negative consequences and towards better outcomes. Difficulty: 3
