CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. It's the primary component of a computer that performs most processing functions, often called the 'brain' of the computer.

The CPU, or Central Processing Unit, is essential for any modern computer, including those used for AI. Its job is to execute instructions, perform basic arithmetic, logic, controlling, and input/output operations specified by the instructions. Think of it as the main engine that keeps everything running in your computer, whether you're browsing the internet or running a complex AI model.

While GPUs (Graphics Processing Units) have become more popular for the intensive parallel computations needed in AI training, CPUs still play a crucial role.
