Shopify has updated its platform to allow browser-based AI agents to complete entire purchases, including checkout, on merchant sites. This is achieved through new tools like get_checkout, update_checkout, and complete_checkout, which enable agents to inspect and modify checkout details and submit transactions after buyer authorization. This builds on previous support for agents to search and add items to carts.
