Liquid AI Open-Sources Antidoom to Prevent AI 'Doom Loops'
Liquid AI has open-sourced 'Antidoom,' a method designed to combat 'doom loops' in reasoning models, where AI repeatedly outputs the same sequence. Antidoom uses Final Token Preference Optimization (FTPO) to retrain the model to prefer coherent alternatives at the onset of a potential loop, rather than broadly altering its sampling. This targeted fix significantly reduces looping rates, particularly in smaller reasoning models.
Doom loops are a critical failure mode that limits the utility of reasoning models. Antidoom provides a fast, targeted, and open-source solution to improve model reliability and unlock answers that models could already produce, without requiring extensive retraining.
