Levitated Macroscopic Rotors Achieve 10 Hours of Free Spin
Researchers have developed diamagnetically levitated millimeter-scale rotors that demonstrated a free spinning duration exceeding 10 hours at room temperature. Published in Nature Communications, this technology achieves an ultralow dissipation rate of 3.85 μHz. The rotors can be driven up to 930 RPM using contactless electrostatic actuation in a high vacuum, offering a platform for precision sensing.
