GitHub Copilot Offers Cost and Quality Tiers for Model Selection

GitHub Copilot's auto model selection now includes three tiers: efficiency, balance, and intelligence, allowing users to prioritize cost, quality, and response time. The 'Efficiency' tier focuses on low costs for simple tasks, 'Balance' offers a mix of cost, quality, and latency for everyday use, and 'Intelligence' prioritizes quality for complex tasks. Copilot will automatically select the best model for each prompt, regardless of the tier, to optimize for the chosen preference. This feature is rolling out in Visual Studio Code, Copilot CLI, and the GitHub Copilot app.
