Claude in Chrome Gains Autonomous Browser Control
Anthropic's Claude in Chrome extension is now generally available on all paid Claude plans, allowing Claude to take actions autonomously within the browser. Claude can view web pages, read and type text, click links, navigate, and fill out forms using existing user logins. A safety classifier validates each action to ensure it's safe and matches the user's request, with options to disable auto-approval if manual verification is preferred.
This allows users to delegate complex web-based tasks to Claude, such as updating CRM records or managing emails, directly within their current browser session without constant human approval. It bridges the gap between AI and the vast number of web applications that lack direct API integrations.
