Claude Cowork Adds Isolated Built-in Browser for Enhanced Security
Anthropic's Claude Cowork desktop app now includes a separate, sandboxed Chromium instance. This built-in browser operates independently from the user's personal browser, providing a secure environment for Claude to navigate pages, read text, click links, and fill forms without accessing the user's open tabs, bookmarks, or saved passwords. Credentials can be selectively imported from other browsers, with banking, email, and single sign-on portals excluded by default.
A small-business owner can confidently hand off tasks like pulling invoices from a vendor portal or gathering research from specific URLs to Claude, knowing their personal browsing data and sensitive logins remain private and secure.
