Anthropic's Claude Cowork Adds Built-in Isolated Browser
Anthropic has introduced a built-in, sandboxed browser within its Claude Cowork desktop app for Enterprise customers, with a rollout to all paid plans. This separate Chromium instance allows Claude to access the web, navigate pages, read text, click links, and fill forms without accessing the user's personal browser history, tabs, or saved passwords. It’s designed for tasks users want to hand off entirely, such as pulling invoices from a vendor portal, while ensuring privacy and security.
This provides a secure way to automate complex web tasks, like data gathering from vendor portals or completing form-heavy workflows, without exposing personal browsing data. It allows users to offload entire web-based tasks and focus on other work.
