AMD and Anthropic Partner for Gigawatt-Scale AI Infrastructure
AMD and Anthropic have announced a strategic partnership where Anthropic will deploy up to 2 gigawatts of AMD Instinct MI450 Series GPUs in AMD Helios rack-scale solutions, with the first gigawatt deployment starting in the first half of 2027. This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for AI training and inference capacity for Anthropic's Claude models. AMD will also make a strategic equity investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic.
This partnership signifies a major expansion of AMD's role in the AI infrastructure buildout and ensures Anthropic has the massive computational resources needed to advance its frontier AI models. It also includes an engineering collaboration to optimize Claude for AMD GPUs and accelerate ROCm software development.
