Guardrails for Controlled AI Output

Often, you want an AI to be creative but stay within certain boundaries. Instead of just hoping it doesn't go off-topic or generate inappropriate content, you can implement 'guardrails.' This means explicitly instructing the AI on what it *must* or *must not* include, or defining specific formats. For example, a teacher generating quiz questions might specify: 'Create 5 multiple-choice questions about renewable energy. Each question must have exactly 4 options, one correct answer, and avoid any mention of nuclear power.' This is more precise than just saying 'Write questions about energy,' preventing unwanted results.

In plain terms

It's like giving clear instructions and boundaries to a new employee, rather than just letting them figure things out on their own.

Why it matters

It ensures AI outputs are consistently safe, relevant, and adhere to specific guidelines, reducing the need for extensive manual editing.
