Google Announces Gemini 3.5 Flash and Omni World Model
Google unveiled Gemini 3.5 Flash at I/O on May 19, a lighter-weight model offering frontier capabilities at half the cost of comparable models. The company also announced Omni, a world model that simulates physical environments by predicting what happens next based on user actions. Gemini 3.5 Flash is now the default for Gemini app and AI mode in search globally. CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized you no longer have to trade quality for latency. Omni will work across Flash, the Gemini App, Google Flow, and YouTube Shorts, supporting video editing and realistic image generation.
